Notable for her debut feature, "Home – the country of illusion," delving into her mother's migratory experiences, Josephine has earned acclaim with a nomination for "Best Documentary" by the Colombian Film Academy in 2017 and the 2016 Colombian National Cinemateca Award. Her short film "El Primer Baile" received an Honorable Jury Mention at WeCam Fest 2020 for promoting inclusivity. "I’m Cris from Tierra Bomba," her second feature, earning a nomination for "Best Visual Effects" by the Colombian Film Academy in 2023. All her films have enjoyed theatrical releases and distribution on TV channels and platforms like Amazon Prime, Flixolé or Filmin. In 2020, Josephine founded the online directory accionmujeres.com, aiding women in navigating gender equality organizations in the Iberoamerican film industry. Her 2021 creation, femalefilmmakers.xyz, a web3 project, encourages women filmmakers' inclusion in decentralization and blockchain for the film industry. As a co-founder of the Dones Visuals Migradas subgroup in Barcelona, and via her blog and social media content, Josephine, ardently advocates for gender equality, diversity, and inclusion. Through her visual art, Josephine passionately explores femininity, feminism, and body autonomy through the evocative symbolism of the color red. She worked for several years at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin as Audiovisual Director Commissioner for Gender Equality, where she had the opportunity to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel on several occasions, including personally giving her a copy of her film “Grenzenlos” (Without Borders) about binational couples. She has been a teacher at the National Film School of Bogotá and taught courses at the University of Magdalena and carried out short film workshops with social impact for various institutions and companies, such as Samsung Aulas de Paz, Fundación Casa Hogar, Grupo DIS, among others. She has extensive experience in the educational sector. Her film Soy Cris de Tierra Bomba received funding in 2024 for organizing alternative screenings for communities and universities. Josephine is an active director/writer who doesn't stop creating and loves to work on international coproductions and diverse film sets.
