I am a K–5 music educator with over 14 years of experience teaching in the New York City public school system. My work focuses on building strong musical foundations while fostering creativity, confidence, and lifelong engagement with music. I teach general music, modern band, and ensemble-based classes, guiding students through singing, instrument performance, music literacy, composition, and active listening. My curriculum integrates classical, contemporary, and culturally relevant music, including rock, punk, hip-hop, jazz, and world traditions. I emphasize hands-on music making through instruments such as recorder, percussion, keyboard, guitar, and classroom ensemble instruments. I design lessons aligned with the New York State Arts Standards, helping students develop skills in performing, creating, responding to, and connecting with music. In addition to classroom teaching, I direct student ensembles and prepare performances for school concerts and community events. I create original arrangements and educational materials tailored to my students’ abilities, ensuring that every child can participate meaningfully in music-making.
