As the founder/CTO of Shine I built an ecosystem of applications including a mobile app written using Ionic and deployed to iOS and Android devices, an admin interface for activity providers written as a PWA using Nuxt 3, an internal dashboard using Laravel Nova, and a Laravel API serving the different applications.

I was responsible for weekly update sessions with the rest of the management team and for liaising with marketing, PR, and with our beta users in order to influence the direction of the product. I managed the project plan and kept the rest of the team engaged and up to date with day to day development while also coding the product from scratch.

The Shine app had a large and engaged userbase and garnered support from a number of council and government bodies as well as a formal partnership with the University of Sterling. Our pilot campaign took place in East Lothian and included thousands of active users and hundreds of local clubs and charities.

The Evotix app enables enterprise customers to give high-quality health and safety learning materials to their employees, and manage their health and safety compliance status across their entire workforce. I was responsible for providing technical leadership to the team, as well as building all native aspects of the app from scratch, and integrating the React-based frontend with a complex offline-first, multitenant architecture that I designed.

The So Energy app is used widely by the customers of the UK’s fastest growing energy supplier, allowing meter reads, direct payments and direct debit management, usage graphs and energy insights, among other features. This year long project developed the native app from the ground up, and delivered it to production on schedule and to high customer reviews from day one.
