Middlesbrough indie, folk singer-songwriter Joe Ramsey shares heartbreaking new single ‘You Don’t Have to Leave’ due out on Friday 1st November. With a classic, indie, anthemic sound reflecting the anguish that comes with separation, ‘You Don’t Have to Leave’ is one of Joe’s most beautifully heartbreaking tracks yet. Coming from a heavily musical background; with a grade 8 pianist and a choir singer for parents, it was impossible for Joe not to fall into the melodic atmosphere that surrounded him. His musical surroundings led to him to reluctantly learning the piano at age 12 however, it was the guitar in which Joe had an itching to master. Although, it wasn’t until his early 20s that Ramsey picked up both a pen and his guitar to write his first ever song, taking him only a mere two hours. Since then, he now writes all the time, finding himself rushing off to car parks and bathrooms to record lyrics and melodies that have unexpectedly caught him off guard. Writing all of his own material, Joe’s emotive lyricism focuses on major life events and the feelings they trigger. From topics of divorce and mental health to the simple thought of existing in today’s modern world, Joe curates songs relatable to all whilst drawing from his own experiences. With an eclectic string of influences from The Police, Ryan Adams, Elton John, John Mayer and Ben Howard; Joe has now found his own, individual indie, folk sound with him being likened to major artists such as Liam Gallagher, Jake Bugg and Catfish and the Bottlemen. With a number of hometown headline shows under his belt as well as festival appearances at Hit the North in Newcastle among others in 2019, 2020 is set to be Joe’s most exciting year yet - starting with his biggest headline show to date at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton on February 28th. “Very impressed by what I’ve heard from Joe” Charlie Ashcroft, Amazing Radio “I promise it’ll have you hitting repeat more times than you can keep track of” Popped Music “Gentle with stirring vocals and meaningful, heartfelt lyrics” Little Dose of Indie “You come across a lot of singer-songwriters but some you gain a bit of a connection with and understand the direction they’re going. This is the case with Joe Ramsey” Words for Music
