I am a user experience designer and iOS developer with a passion for improving people's lives through technology by combining empathy, dedication, and whimsy to make fun and functional designs. I have prior experience in iOS development, front-end web development, and graphic design, all of which informs my UX focus. I became interested in UX when I realized that its goal - helping improve the experience of a product for users - was what I had been trying to do all along through iOS development and front-end web development. I want to apply my skills to make a real difference for users, and continue to learn and grow as a designer and developer.

uniE621 Severe Weather Response Cross-Platform Solution UX
This project - consisting of an app and a responsive website - was designed for the greater good, with the goal of helping users prepare for, receive updates on, and respond to severe weather. Features include current weather and alerts, preparedness information, and an item exchange and access to a community - which includes local events and groups - to facilitate local support and cooperation before, during, and in response to severe weather events. The Problem Users need easy access to updates and a way to connect with community and resources before, during, and after severe weather. Existing products often have poor user flow and over- or underwhelm users with information, and can lack accessibility features and good visual design. The Goal Design an app and website with clear user flow, strong branding, a reasonable amount of content, and good accessibility to help individuals prepare for and respond to severe weather. My Role UX designer responsible for all aspects of the project from concept to completion. Responsibilities User research, storyboarding, competitive audit, paper and digital wireframing, low- and high- fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, incorporating accessibility, iterating on designs, and responsive design. uniE621 Animal Shelter Website UX
I love animals and pets, and a recent loss of a pet put into perspective what an important part of our lives a pet can be, so I was inspired to create an animal shelter website. I wanted to design an experience for pet adoption that would allow users to find the best pet for them, and allow them to focus on creating a connection with that pet. My role UX designer designing the app from concept to delivery. Responsibilities User research, storyboarding, competitive audit, paper and digital wireframing, low- and high- fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, incorporating accessibility, iterating on designs, and responsive design. The problem Adopting a pet online can feel very impersonal and transactional. This is worsened by animal shelters lacking their own adoption process (and redirecting to another service), which makes the adoption experience feel inconsistent and disconnected from the specific shelter and pet. A convoluted adoption process may feel untrustworthy to users and hurt the shelter by losing potential adoptions. The solution Create a native, on-site adoption process that is specific to the animal shelter and selected pet, with a focus on providing users all the necessary information about the animal, pet ownership, and adoption process prior to committing to adopt. A straightforward on-site adoption process will make adopting pets easier, which should increase adoptions and benefit the shelter financially. Full case study: https://www.twine.net/signin
    uniE621 Movie Ticket App UX
I love seeing movies and wanted to create a project to help others enjoy them too. I saw the need for an app for purchasing movie tickets that would make the process fun and simple with easy to use features. My role UX designer designing the app from concept to delivery. Responsibilities User research, storyboarding, competitive audit, paper and digital wireframing, conducting usability studies, prototyping, incorporating accessibility, and iterating on designs. The problem Movie ticket apps can be hard to use, confusing, and lacking in accessibility features. Users are busy and don't want the purchase process to hinder their ability to purchase tickets and enjoy going to the movies. From a business perspective if purchasing tickets is too difficult, users are likely to give up and their potential sale will be lost. The solution Make a ticket purchase app that is simple to navigate and accessible, with a focus on features that help users find what they want. When finding and purchasing movie tickets is easy, it should result in more successful purchases, which will benefit the business in the long run. Full case study: https://www.twine.net/signin
