They say that you're supposed to work with something that you love and are good at. For me, art as well as astronomy are two life long passions and I feel truly gifted getting to work within both these fields. My name is Katja Lindblom. I'm an artist, astronomer and open for business. Whether you want scientific or fictional illustrations, you have certainly found the right freelancer. To put it short, I’m a person with a live long love for astronomy, art and science fiction who is lucky enough to get to work with all of these subjects. As an artist I I am self taught. I specialise in cover art and illustrations for books but have also worked with comics publishers as well as created the occasional scientific and pedagogic illustrations. I am as experienced using traditional media such as for example pens, pencils and paints on paper and canvas, as when it comes to digital drawing and colouring. Although I’m used to several different methods and techniques, there are of course some that I prefer to others. In spite of having produced art pretty much all throughout my adult life, I haven't until now had the opportunity to take on more than the occasional assignment but now I'm available for commissions as well as short and long term projects and I am already looking forward to work with you! --- **Employment and project experience** **Scientific illustrator** Populär Astronomi _January 2019 - ongoing_ **Illustrator** Lehto Spel och Media _February 2022 - March 2022_ **Illustrator** SF Forum _January 2013 - December 2019_ **Illustrator** Typ Förlag _September 2016 - December 2016_ **Illustrator** Göteborgs Regionarkiv _April 2015 - June 2015_ **Illustrator** Wikimedia Foundations _June 2010 - September 2010_ **Comics artist** Underfire Comics _2008 - 2010_ **Comics artist* Timebomb Comics _2008 - 2009_

    uniE621 Balloon rise
Personal project. As this species of alien plants draw their nutritions from the ground, they also absorb gas emitted from the planet’s bedrock. This allows them to eventually rise into the sky and when the atmospheric pressure is low enough, the ballon like bodies will burst and their spores be carried with the wind to cover vast areas. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
uniE621 The day the earth moved
Personal project. Most of the times a rock is just a rock but sometimes, just sometimes, it can be something completely different. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
    uniE621 Collecting samples
Personal project. Almost like picking cloudberries in northern Sweden, although on a distant planet. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
uniE621 A whole lot of gas!
Personal project. If there was an ocean large enough Saturn – and other planets like it – would float like a beach ball! illustrator sciencefiction
    uniE621 Desert pterodactyls
Personal project. These flying creatures are inspired by the pterosaurs that lived on Earth about 150 million years ago, although unlike their earthly peers they live in deserts rather than along the coastlines. Should you find one of their nests, make sure not to touch it. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
    uniE621 Don't say the A-word
Personal project. If we'd be able to visit faraway worlds outside our own solar system, the aliens we might find are much more likely to be microbes than intelligent beings capable of building advanced structures. illustrator sciencefiction
    uniE621 Robot wars
Personal project. Another image inspired by pulp SF book covers. Actually I made it into a cover for a notebook available on Amazon: https://www.twine.net/signin illustrator sciencefiction retroSF
    uniE621 Lunch break
Personal project. If having lunch outdoors on an exotic planet, at least make sure to take off your dusty gloves and wash you hands before eating anything. illustrator sciencefiction
    uniE621 It bugs me!
Personal project. Joining a friend on an excursion last summer, we were exposed to the extremely unpleasant attacks of the horrible flies known as Lipoptena Cervi, which inspired this picture. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
    uniE621 Mushroom stew for dinner?
Personal project. During the Silurian and Devonian periods, Earth had no trees tallen than approximately 1,2 meter. Although the fungi known as Prototaxites could reach up to 8 metres. They didn't look like anything on this picture. illustrator sciencefiction alienlife
uniE621 One does not simply walk out of Mordor
Personal project. Getting caught by the sudden activity of volcanoes is never recommended. Always perform your unmanned geological surveys well in advance before exploring. illustrator sciencefiction
    uniE621 Exoplanetary activism
Personal project. Just because you're on another planet, it doesn't mean that you get to dump your toxic waste wherever you want to. "Clean up after yourselves, your mother doesn't work here." illustrator sciencefiction
