Hi, I’m Lisa Finkel, a composer, arranger and musician based on the Gold Coast and I specialise in scoring for film, media, and theatre. My work on Sintel, Eat Sand, and Bush Bash has taught me how to blend electronic textures with orchestral colours and to collaborate closely with directors, performers, and crew.
Beyond writing music, I enjoy the whole process from on-set sound recording to rehearsals, and I love using tools like Sibelius, Cubase and DaVinci Resolve to craft immersive experiences. I’m always excited to tackle fresh challenges at the intersection of music and visuals, and I’m keen to bring energy and storytelling to new projects.
(My latest project involved creating fantasy mythical and magical inspired music using sound libraries through Cubase. Let me know if you would like to hear some samples! )

The Outback Filmmaking Bootcamp held annually in Winton QLD is an intensive
program for Griffith Film and Queensland Conservatorium students to team together and create a short film from scratch over one and half weeks in the outback setting of Winton. At the end of the bootcamp, the students’ film works were premiered on the last night of Winton’s Vision Splendid Film Festival. After being assigned to be part of the crew who will create the mockumentary style short film, Eat Sand, my work entailed:
• composing for the film in post-production, using Sibelius and Cakewalk.
• sound recording on set during shooting
• prop and set design in pre-production
Upon screening, this film received the Audience Choice Award as well as a Very Highly Commended mention from the judges. In addition, the film was also a recipient of Best Cinematography from Australia Youth Film Festival. The experience was an intensive learning but thrilling adventure!

Sintel is an animated short film attained from the public archives and rescoring it became part of my last assessment for my Project Studies Course at the Griffith Conservatorium. My focus for this project was orchestrating and scoring for film which is why the last assessment involved rescoring for Sintel. Sibelius was primarily used for the creation of this music with a few additional sounds from Kontakt sound libraries.
Enjoy!
This performing arts show incorporates circus routines of fire arts, light apparatus, and more with a fantasy inspired concept. Fantasy mythical tracks were provided for Euphoric Flow Entertainment’s show utilising Cubase 14 and sound libraries from BBC Symphony Orchestra, LABS, Kontakt, Halion and Sine etc.
One track, Evening Dance, has a very magical fairy-like quality created by the use of sounds such as LABS light and airy choir voices, glittery chimes and glockenspiel, BBC Symphony’s celeste, strings and clarinet.
Another piece has a darker fantasy heroic tone that listeners have commented it to be “like something from a game”. Instruments include solid harp melody, traditional and digital percussion, marching strings, heroic brass, and unique sounds.
