I am a documentary director, editor, and producer with over 25 years of international experience telling real stories through a human, intimate, and cinematic lens. My work is driven by a deep interest in people, their contradictions, memories, struggles, and quiet moments, as well as how personal narratives reflect larger social and cultural realities.
I approach documentary filmmaking as a process of listening first. Interviews are central to my work, not as formal testimony, but as spaces of trust where subjects can reveal complexity, vulnerability, and truth.
Having directed hundreds of interviews across different cultures and languages, I focus on creating an environment where authenticity naturally emerges on camera.
My background as an editor strongly shapes my directing process. I often edit my own films, which allows me to think structurally from the earliest stages of development.
I shoot and direct with the edit in mind, attentive to rhythm, silence, repetition, and emotional progression, transforming raw interviews and observational footage into cohesive, story-driven narratives.
I have directed and edited projects for international broadcasters and platforms, including the BBC, NBC, RTP, TV Globo, and AMC Networks, working on a range of documentary formats, from long-form documentaries and short documentaries to portrait films and investigative pieces.
My experience spans both authored and journalistic formats, always with a commitment to ethical storytelling and narrative clarity.
Having lived and worked internationally, including 17 years in the United States and extended periods in Europe and Latin America, I bring a global perspective and cultural sensitivity to my projects.
I am fluent in English and Portuguese, speak Spanish professionally, and am currently based in Germany.
Through my documentary work, I aim to create emotionally honest films, visually restrained yet expressive, and deeply human, stories that stay with the audience, not because they explain everything, but because they invite reflection.
