"The music on [Een Goede Moslima] is the best soundtrack I ever heard in a Dutch documentary." Jelle Peter de Ruiter (The Netherlands), Documentaries editorial chief - 2Doc op NPO2 / KRO-NCRV I'm an Argentinean born; Amsterdam based composer. I’ve been writing songs since I was 13, but I always wanted to *seriously* learn composition. So I did. I applied to the Utrecht Conservatory and studied chamber and symphonic scores. In 2006, after 8 years of study I finished with an MA in classical composition. Besides composing I wanted to learn to play Jazz guitar, and I also wanted to learn the basics of orchestral conducting. So: Did that too. After my study I conducted choirs for 5 years. When I got tired of waving my backside to the audience, I set up a Prog Rock band; Modest Midget. Then I got tired of trying to sell complex music, and I also got me some Tinnitus. So, I went on as a ‘folkie’ singer-songwriter. All the while I regularly arranged and orchestrated music for the most prominent Classical ensembles and orchestras in the Netherlands, among them the Concertgebouw Orchestra (regarded as the #1 symphony orchestra in the world). I also orchestrated the soundtrack of the Oscar nominated feature ‘Footnote’ (2012). During COVID I studied Latin American folk music, and I can now write authentic Brazilian, Argentinean, Mexican or Peruvian music. Loving that! All this experience has put me in a position where I can write music for film and television, utilizing modern scoring but also having affinity with traditional writing and many other styles. I had the pleasure of scoring several shorts and a couple of feature documentaries. Loved that too! With BMG Production Music I published stock music which is regularly licensed worldwide. Wouldn’t mind doing more of that. I’m also always happy to score a new movie or a good series. By now I am known to be able to create a modern score as well as very authentic world music. I can generate almost any Latin American style, Celtic music, Russian, most of what Europe has to offer as well as several Asian & African traditional music. I can write the soundtrack of a thriller, a dramedy, an epic movie, a horror film or a reality show. I’ll make a 19th century opera overture get played by a Prog band (note for note loyal to the original) and I’ll make a massive hit song sound decent by a top-notch string quartet. You know the feeling you get when you see a Dall-E generate image, or hear music made by AI, where it looks great but... kind of dead? Never going to happen with my work!
