My name is Maddie Policastro, and I am an incoming first-year Master's student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying Media and Communications with a concentration in Theory and Research. Recently, I completed my undergraduate education at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I double majored in Journalism and Political Science. Previously, I worked as a producer and reporter for UNC Hussman's student radio station, Carolina Connection, where I pitched and produced my own audio pieces for our weekly broadcast. In this role, I also guided reporters, wrote show scripts, and anchored episodes of our show and podcast. My work for this role won multiple awards, including 3rd place in Audio for the National Hearst Journalism Competition. I was also a City & State senior writer for the Daily Tar Heel, where I pitched and wrote stories about topics that encompass Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Orange County, and the State of North Carolina. Outside the classroom, I enjoy photography, attending concerts, writing poetry, and spending time with my friends.
