As a frontend web developer at CommerceV3, I take on various tasks relating to the frontend design and functionality of the websites of our clients. CommerceV3 has its own developed CMS platform with several default themes built with the Bootstrap Framework to use as a starting point. Common projects that I work on include customizing themes for new website builds and redesigns, laying out and styling pages based on design mockups, as well as testing and updating for ADA compliance. Daily tasks usually include various upgrades requested by clients, troubleshooting functionality issues, and adding/updating content. After expressing interest in taking on some design tasks, I have also designed mockups for websites and informational documents.

As a web developer at h2o creative group, I was responsible for building and maintaining websites for clients. Most of the time, we referenced a mockup design for initial building, but for smaller projects, I was asked to design as I built. Websites were mostly built using Wordpress, some older sites were built with Joomla. The theme uses a Framework and we would create child themes to customize all of the websites. After launching a new website, I was responsible for training the client on how to update the content. Another role of mine was designing, developing, and sending email campaigns through Mailchimp and Constant Contact for clients that used that service.

    Le Palais is a luxurious hotel that offers a relaxing stay, hosts events ranging from banquets to weddings, and is equipped with ample office space for members. I made this brand up because I wanted to do something a bit different than what I’ve done before. I’ve mainly done very cutesy and colorful branding, so I wanted to do something more minimalist and sophisticated. The overall design is focused on the typeface, is conservative in its use of color, and takes advantage of using a lot of negative space. The goal was to give this brand a sleek, elegant and professional look.

    Lindsey and Ryan are some friends of mine that got married in 2020 so I asked them if I could use them as an example for a wedding package project. I gathered all of their wedding information and asked if they prefer any specific colors. The colors are blue/gray, burgundy, and green. She sent me a photo of them to use for the Save the Date, but the colors were a bit bright, so I changed the colors of their shirts. Then, it just took off from there!

    This project was a lot of fun for me. This was really my first chance to use pastel colors, which I love. It’s still cute and pretty, but I think this branding turned out simpler than other projects I’ve done. I really enjoyed creating a simple and modern brand that still had a little bit of a vintage feel to it. The part that was most fun for me on this project was designing the boxes because that was something I hadn’t done before and I love the way they turned out. In the future, I would love to design and develop a website for this brand. I think it would be a lot of fun.
