    paper Ultimate Showcase 2023 - Visual Theme and Merch

    Event Details

    Ultimate Showcase is a dance competition hosted annually by GGWB, an Asian-pop centered dance team based at the University of Maryland. This year’s theme was “Superheroes vs. Villains,” inviting teams to bring out their good or evil sides and showcase these motifs in their performances. All branding, merchandise, and graphics were guided by the classic comic book style, and aligned with GGWB’s brand colors.

    My Role

    My primary responsibilities regarded the design direction of marketing material and branding of the event, guided by my artistic director and their feedback. As the second installment of the event, and first year incorporating a theme, I was tasked with conceptualizing, designing, and executing the full artistic vision through visual material and setting the standard for future years. These designs helped the success of the artistic committee’s contributions, as well as the marketing chair’s social media agenda.

    Product Details

    Ultimate Showcase is a dance competition hosted annually by GGWB, an Asian-pop centered dance team based at the University of Maryland. This year’s theme was “Clique Clash,” an homage to classic school clichés. All branding, merchandise, and graphics were guided by high school/college tropes, and inspired by traditional school regalia in GGWB’s original brand colors.

    My Role

    My primary responsibilities regarded the design direction of marketing material and branding of the event, guided by my artistic director and their feedback. Over the course of 5-6 months, I conceptualized, designed, and executed the full artistic and cohesive theme for the event’s visual presentation. These designs helped the success of the artistic committee’s contributions, as well as the marketing chair’s social media agenda.

    paper Spray - Brand Identity and User Interface

    Product Details

    Spray is a mobile art application for users to paint digital murals on real-world physical surfaces using augmented reality. The company’s mission is to make art accessible for all, allowing everyone to draw inspiration from the beauty around them and provide them with the tools to channel that creativity into their own unique creations.

    My Role

    My role as the creative lead primarily entails the brand, user interface design, and its relation to user experience, in order to build the technical tools required for art creation and sharing. Through the I-Corp program, we organized the product in comprehensive sections that regarded different development practices, such as customer discovery, value proposition, and product-market fit. One of the biggest roles I played was conducting user research in order to incorporate the data into our product design.

    I’ve:

    • Collectively conducted 60+ user interviews and prototype tests
    • Utilized mentorship for customer discovery and analytics
    • Implemented user research data into our official pitch deck, and pitched our venture to investors
