Rocky Crags

This was one of the terrain tile illustrations in the board game, Xorakus. It’s a digital drawing that I made using Adobe software on the iPad Pro.

I freehanded the rocky terrain. When adding color I started with a deep beige-grey color because I wanted that to be the dominant color. Then, I added shadows to create a sense of depth. They are cast at the same angle across all of the tiles. I also added some highlights to really help those rock formations pop out. Finally, I added some vegetation, like the little green tree shapes and gave them shadows. #illustrator
