A Brooks native, composer and pianist Melody Lo has a passion for music ever since she was a child. With over 15 years of playing experience, she holds an RCM level 10 certificate and passed her ARCT in piano performance playing exam. She has studied under mentors such as Edwin Gnandt, Mboya Nicholson, and Chris Andrew. She has some experience with freelance arranging work, bringing a client’s idea to life into sheet music and DAW demos. This inspired her to pursue composition over performing. Her compositions are rooted in Romantic lyricism and emotional clarity, coupled with the narrative shaping and harmonic colour of traditional Disney and musical theatre. Melody is completing her Bachelor of Music at MacEwan University, where she also earned a diploma in composition.
