Mike Gomes is a Luso-American Cinematographer born & raised in Newark, NJ. His experience extends from Narrative, Documentaries & Commercials to cutting edge Virtual Reality. Mike is an alumni of SXSW for his Narrative Feature work on "Lapsis" & Feature Documentary "The Dwarvenaut", Cannes Film Festival for Live Concert Documentary "New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization" feat Bill Murray, Tribeca Film Festival for Feature Documentary "How Dark My Love" & Venice Film Festival for "Asteroid", an XR Narrative Short Film Directed by Doug Liman and Nominated for the Venice Immersive Grand Prize. Mike is an Emmy Award Winning Camera Operator for his work on National Geographic's "Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller" and is a member of the Society of Camera Operators. His debut at the 2021 74th Annual Cannes Film Festival featured "New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization" Featuring Bill Murray, World-Renowned Cello Player Jan Vogler & Friends in the "Special Screenings" Category which was nominated for a Golden Eye award. It's a multi-camera live concert film shot at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece that is gorged with everything we love about Bill Murray, music, literature & culture directed by Andrew Muscato. His narrative film, "Lapsis", had its world premiere and was in competition at the SXSW Film festival in 2020. Lapsis was recognized by Variety in "The Best Under-the-Radar Films of 2020" along with Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire & Wired. Lapsis was also nominated for "Best First Screenplay" written by Director Noah Hutton at the Indie Spirit Awards in 2021. Gomes also had his first Feature-Length Documentary, "The Dwarvenaut", have its world premiere at SXSW in 2016 and was later acquired by Netflix for distribution. Mike brings a strong sense of energy, passion and focus to his craft with the goal of creating and capturing compelling images that entertain & inspire.
