I have worked in visual effects for almost 30 years as a compositor for film and television). I started using Discreet (now Autodesk) Flame, Inferno and later Combustion, had some experience with Shake and Fusion (pre-Black Magic) and for the last 15 years I have used Nuke and (mostly) Nuke X. Prior to my vfx career I had 10 years in post-production in general (online editing and tape operations). Recently I’ve added video editing to my skill set (DaVinci Resolve Studio and Adobe Premiere Pro). Prior to that I worked in audio recording (16 track studio) and have kept that skill up. Currently I use Logic Pro for traditional recording, mixing and mastering and Ableton Live for some composing. I also have and am familiar with Bitwig. My setup is well stocked for instrument and processing plugins from Universal Audio, Waves, Native-Instruments and Arturia as well as some smaller companies. I am also a singer/songwriter/guitarist having released a six song e.p. (no longer available but can send upon request) that made Vancouver BC’s Province newspaper’s disc of the week, and best of the year so far (releases from January to end of June). Also recorded an album of retro electronic music (described by one listener as the lost soundtrack to a 1930s Sci-Fi movie) under the name The Forbin Electro-Sonic Laboratory. It can be found on Bandcamp and most streaming services. Recently finished recording an album with Portland, OR power pop band These Foolish Things as a guitar player. While my focus is finding vfx and editing work, I would like to branch out into mixing music for other artists and possibly doing some film scoring. Finally, I have, in the past, written about music for local and national publications in Canada (Nerve magazine and Bullet magazine in Toronto, Chart magazine nationally).
