13 years ago today I saw you standing in the doorway of the house… I thought nothing of it, a tight hug a kiss on the side of my head, a simple wave goodbye with a “Merry Christmas I love you” to send us off… if I sit in my mind long enough I can see every detail of this moment… I can feel the cold seat of the car on my legs as I sit in the back seat waiting got the car to warm up, I can hear the crunch of the snow beneath the tires as we pull away from the house, I can see the bright white of the cloud covered sky as the snow comes down…. and you standing there in a Forrest green zippered jacket with an embroidered cabin patch, comfortably warn out Levi blue jeans and brown boots… no hat just your light Sandy brown hair swept to one side your soft face looking towards mine with a smile and wave, just like any other day.
