Composer, pianist, and expert in analog synthesis, Michaël Tainturier has nearly 10 years of experience in music for film and television. Trained in sound engineering alongside music, his career truly began when he met Jean-Benoît Dunckel from the renowned French duo Air. Since 2015, he has assisted Dunckel in the creation of numerous original soundtracks for films and series, including Summer of 85 (François Ozon, 2020), which was nominated for a César Award for Best Original Music. This close collaboration has allowed him to gain a unique expertise in the tools and practices of score composition, while also developing a deep understanding of the dynamics of the film industry. Simultaneously, Michaël has cultivated his own musicality within two bands that ,while very different, share a pronounced taste for cinematic music: Mandarina and Riva Sinistra. In Mandarina, founded in 2019 with Colombian singer Paola Olarte, he serves as the producer and composer creating an eclectic sound where pop, jazz, electronic music, and dreamy instrumental elements converge. Their track “Mon prochain” was chosen as the main theme for the Colombian series Las Iguanas, aired on HBO Max. Since 2020, Michaël has composed the original score for four short films: Enfermo (2020) by Sacha Noyé, Montrésor (2021), Hauteville House (2022), and La Loue (2024) by Valérie Sonnier. Today, he is fully committed to composition, eager to apply his skills to support artists, directors, and productions across a variety of projects, while continuously exploring new ways to express the magic of music in visual storytelling.
