With a passion for understanding the ins and outs of complex systems, pursuing a career in tech has been highly rewarding. A generalist at the core, I am driven by curiosity. The diversity of challenges that are presented by working in this industry is what attracted me to tech, and has inspired me to explore working in a range of areas such as Server-Side, Front-End, Blockchain, and Site Reliability Engineering, over the years. Most recently, I worked as part of a small team in an Australian startup, building a retail insights platform from the ground up. This was a wonderful project to be involved in, and with only three engineers, a brilliant opportunity to put my full-stack programming skills to the test after some more IaC heavy roles. I had the opportunity to work with some inspiring and talented individuals, and gain insight into a very different facet of the tech world - startup madness. My latest role invited heavy involvement in the product/design element of development which I hadn’t encountered before. Built a NFT trading marketplace using ReactJS and Gatsby that harnessed the power of Haskell and Cabal to create transactions on the Cardano blockchain. Generated thousands of unique high quality NFTs using various scripting tools such as Go, Bash and Python and the creations of a highly talented artist. Hosted distinct parts of the platform including a Cardano node on various hosting solutions depending on requirements such as Firebase and AWS, leveraging Github actions and monitoring solutions to enable frequent releases and high availability.
