After 10 years as a journalist with the news agency Reuters, I am now a freelance journalist, videographer, photographer and communications consultant based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Since I became a freelance communications consultant, I’ve done it all - I’m a journalist and writer; an award-winning videographer and film-maker; a creator of video content focused on climate, social justice, health and business in Africa; a photographer; a video and podcast editor - I’ve even been a conference planner (I organised and ran the first ever Social Good Summit in Nairobi for UNDP, broadcasting live to the UN in New York and online.)
I do most of this work under the umbrella of infocusfilms.org , a carbon-neutral media consultancy that I set up in Kenya, which has enabled me to recruit a team of professionals all over the world to work with me on top-tier communications packages (mostly video, but also some photos and print) for organisations whose work we believe in. We’ve done work for UNEP, the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the US Forest Service, UNDP, the East Africa Growth & Opportunity Hub and IFAW, amongst others. I’m also a freelance writer and copy-editor for the Associated Press.
I speak fluent English, Spanish, French and German, as well as conversational Swahili.
