Hey, I’m Nomar Lugo. I’m an architectural designer with a Master of Architecture degree and currently working as an associate professor of Architecture and Design at my alma mater, Universidad Ana G. Méndez. This portfolio is a collection of the work I’ve developed along the way, from graduate studies to personal design explorations, and reflects the ideas, influences, and values that shape my approach to architecture. Before architecture, I earned my bachelor’s degree in photography, and that foundation continues to guide how I understand and frame the world around me. Whether I’m designing a space or capturing an image, I’m always thinking about light, texture, rhythm, and the relationships between people and their environments. Photography taught me to observe closely, to notice details others might overlook, and that attention to detail carries through in my architectural work. Teaching has also become an important part of my practice. As a professor, I get to revisit fundamental ideas through the fresh perspectives of students, and it constantly pushes me to keep learning, questioning, and evolving. It’s a role that challenges me in the best way. Outside of work, I split my time between the street and the mats, either out with my camera documenting everyday moments or training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Both practices keep me grounded and curious, reminding me that growth comes through repetition, reflection, and staying present.
