    My second short film at DePaul. A horror film that takes place in a small Illinois town in the early 1940s. I grew up in a small town in Central Illinois, and have always been fascinated with pieces of media like Gravity Falls and It. My hometown had the Illinois River to the east, and cornfields in every other direction. The corn fields were like the ocean to me.

    After I finished my first short, I decided to tackle the horror genre. In this short, I used my roots growing up in the rural Midwest where almost everyone around me was into hunting. I decided to take that interest people had, and turn the film into a metaphor for colonialism. Being a huge monster fan, I decided to have a monster to showcase that metaphor and have it serve as an act of punishment.

    The first short film that I wrote and directed while at DePaul. It’s based on my experiences with depression. Currently on YouTube for viewing.

    I started writing this film in August 2024. At the time, I was about to start my third year at DePaul. A lot had been going on in my mind. I hadn’t made many friends during my first two years, and it really made me question my future. Was I meant to be alone for the rest of my life? This was when I started jotting my thoughts down, and turned it into a script.

    This was the first short film that I made, so I started reaching out to people on how I could get the production office to approve of it. That’s when I met my producer, and she was able to guide me through the steps to greenlighting this film. I’m lucky that I had a talented cast and crew to bring this film to life. We shot the film in October 2024. It was completed on January 1st, 2025.
