This video was created to celebrate the Fourth of July, which is also National Orchestra Day. One of the most recognizable melodies around the Fourth of July is the piccolo solo from John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes forever. This video features the piccolo player from the Houston Symphony playing this excerpt from memory, with the sheet music scrolling on the screen. The video encourages users to guess what the song may be, as many may recognize it, but may not know the name. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTF5ALKXP/
This carousel was posted on Instagram during “brat summer” (summer 2024). This post combined the brat summer and “very demure very mindful” trends into one post, stating whether a composer was brat or demure. This is a great application of a trend for an organization that makes sense for them. While not inherently sales-forward, this post highlights composers featured in the Houston Symphony’s 2024–25 Season, which may also pique the interest of users. This carousel was posted on both Instagram and TikTok and as of October 2024 had over 85,000 views. The engagement on this post far surpassed the account averages on TikTok and Instagram as people took to the comments to agree, disagree, or add in other composers they think should have been included.
This reel was created at a Houston Symphony concert of The Music of ABBA. Patrons were approached to participate in a video where they had to guess the ABBA song based on a grouping of emojis. This video follows the format of other popular videos on TikTok, such as ‘guess the country’.

The purpose of this reel was to showcase the various places to sit in Jones Hall and what the view from that seat/section would look like. First-time attendees of the Houston Symphony often have never been to the hall so this video allowed them to see where the best place for them to sit is. Even long-time attendees can use this video to see other places in the hall if they are considering changing seats from where they usually sit. This video could have just been pictures from carious locations in the hall, but adding the little description to each location makes it more fun and the user gets a better idea as to maybe the “type” of person that may want to sit in that location.
