At present, I serve as Associate Producer on The Michelangelo Signorile Show on SiriusXM Radio (Progress Channel 127), a live daily progressive political talk show broadcast Monday to Friday 3-6pmET across the US and hosted by gay author, journalist, and former editor-at-large for HuffPost, Michelangelo Signorile. In this capacity, I program and produce a three-hour radio broadcast every day. On the preproduction side, I schedule and conduct background research for interviews with politicians, journalists, activists, scholars, and anyone else who we identify as being a good fit for our show. I similarly select and isolate audio from outside sources to supplement our storytelling. Come showtime, I operate the soundboard, monitor audio feeds and recordings, screen listener phone calls, and update live show metadata. My postproduction responsibilities include editing and posting social media content, uploading episodes to On Demand services and archives, and creating promotional radio content for the show. These responsibilities require expertise with a wide array of hardware and software; in addition, they engage both my creative decision-making facilities alongside the more rote, mechanical elements of show production. My five-plus years working in live programming made me an adept and decisive problem-solver, particularly honing these instincts under pressure. I react and act quickly when technical issues arise in order to steady the ship. It also honed my research skills: I routinely enable interviewers to facilitate thoughtful discussions on material they have not read or topics they do not otherwise fully grasp. Similarly, I have a keen ear for that which enhances our storytelling, be that finding interview guests with specific expertise, sifting through callers to find those most applicable to the show moment-to-moment, or editing content for social media. Most importantly, production of this style of content relies on a producer forging and maintaining relationships with outside sources and talent: I do so with the offices of state governors, major journalistic institutions, universities, and nonprofits alike, resulting in the repeated return of high-profile guests to our show. My experience extends beyond just live broadcasts: I have extensive experience writing, editing and producing both fiction and nonfiction podcasts. Most recently, I started producing a show called Digging In with Pete Broderick, which aims to examine some of the human impacts of great paleontological mysteries. I have experience with a broad array of content in terms of theme, structure, and ideology. While I consider myself a self-starter, I love the varied perspectives that collaboration inspires and really enjoy working as part of a team. I am confident these skills will translate to whatever form of content to which I’m lucky enough to contribute. Thank you for your time and consideration, Pete Broderick _Phone details not available.
