Peter Cromhout

I am Peter Cromhout, a resident engineer and construction expert with 40+ years of experience across Southern Africa and beyond. Dubbed the “consummate construction expert” by the DDG of Public Works, I have led and advised on projects from pre-concept through to commissioning and closeout, including large-scale infrastructure and mining initiatives. I am an avid reader and a meticulous researcher, always confirming approaches with thorough study before starting any task.

I excel in coordinating complex, multi-package projects in high-pressure environments, mentoring teams, and delivering customer-focused, innovative solutions. My background spans local and international contracts, design to commissioning, governance across state departments, and partnerships with public entities and contractors. I am committed to knowledge transfer and to sustaining long-term capability within the built environment.
