I’m Pete Stollery. I studied composition with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham, and I was among the first BEAST members in the early 1980s. I compose for concert hall performance, with a focus on acousmatic music, and I’ve extended my practice to sound installations and internet projects outside traditional concert venues. I collaborate with practitioners from other arts—especially dance and sculpture—and I have produced music and sound design for UK visitor attractions including Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, Magna in Rotherham, and St Patrick’s World in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. Until 2022 I was Professor of Composition and Electroacoustic Music at the University of Aberdeen, delivering courses on the creative applications of technology in music and music education to students, schoolchildren and the general public. My music is published by empreintes DIGITALes, and you can find more information at petestollery.com.
