Hi, I’m Phoebe Riel, a freelance illustrator and character designer based in Calgary, AB. I hold a Bachelor of Design from the Alberta University of the Arts, where I focused on storytelling through character design and visual development. My style is rooted in both whimsical children’s illustrations and fantasy, with a passion for highlighting Indigenous stories and perspectives. I’ve worked on various projects, including public art displays, children’s books, and game development, such as the Biolumia game and the Astina children’s book series. My experience includes designing characters, environments, and costumes, with a strong emphasis on world-building. I bring a unique perspective to my work, influenced by my Kwakwaka’wakw and Ojibwe heritage, which informs my storytelling. I stand out for my ability to create vibrant, engaging characters and worlds, with a deep commitment to authenticity and inclusivity. Whether you’re looking for character designs, illustrations, or concept art, I’m excited to help bring your project to life!
