The State of Connecticut is seeking a talented and knowledgeable UI/UX Designer to join their cross-functional project team focused on building and improving the state’s digital government services. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in user-centered service design, website and graphic design, user acceptance testing, and digital platforms, tools, and discipline. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working in an Agile environment and be able to perform in complex situations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement service design, graphic design, and website design for new and ongoing projects
- Work with cross-functional teams to prioritize work to meet user needs
- Provide insights on how users interact with the service or product
- Design and redesign services and maintain websites
- Build and run tests to confirm the service or product meets user and stakeholder needs
- Help increase user and agency confidence in future service or product delivery
- Work with enterprise scale digital platforms and products
- Use productivity and analysis tools to manage iterative delivery
- Communicate and collaborate with state-wide partners
- Encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in user-centered service design, website and graphic design, and user acceptance testing
- At least 3 years of experience in digital platforms, tools, and discipline, and performance in complex situations
- Proficiency in HTML 5, Bootstrap 4.0+, CSS 3, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience working in an enterprise component-based CMS
- Ability to distill complex concepts into simple ideas
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards
- Comfort in blazing a path through an ambiguous work environment
- Associate degree or higher in UI/UX design, HCI design, graphic design, web design, or web development (preferred)
- Portfolio of work including 2 examples of real-time work (preferred)
- Knowledge of user research and analytics, customer relationship management platforms, and web content management platforms (preferred)
