Contract: Freelance/Part Time

Responsibilities

• Apply makeup and light hairstyling for 1-2 regular hosts and up to 0-6 guests for a daily TV news broadcast.
• Style hair and apply makeup appropriately for television on deadline and with a high level of proficiency.
• Maintain and organize inventory and supplies.
• Keep the hair and makeup room tidy.
• Reliably report for work on-time to perform work in advance of an 8:00 a.m. live TV broadcast.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of cosmetic/make-up experience working in LIVE television news getting talent camera ready.
• Must have the ability to work with varied face shapes, all skin tones, and hair textures.
• Demonstrated ability in hairstyling for both men and women.
• Promptness and dependability are a must.
• A warm, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Maintain a professional manner as a representative of Democracy Now! when greeting and looking after talent appearing on-air.
• Formal beauty or makeup technical school certification preferred.
• Must be available to work week shifts starting at 7:00 a.m. for the live daily TV & radio newscast at 8 a.m.
