The Director of Contemporary Music and Worship Ministries will lead the adult Praise and Worship team in weekly services and will assist in planning the contemporary worship services with the pastors and team. This position requires the ability to lead instrumentally and vocally, with the Praise and Worship team, to usher the congregation into a time of encountering God. This person will recruit, evaluate, and orient new worship leaders.
This position will also manage a schedule that will allow those who are able and willing to lead the church in worship.
Bachelor degree in music preferred.
Salary will be reviewed based on musical training, expertise, and experience.
For wage-hour purposes, the Contemporary Music and Worship Leader is an exempt full or part time employee.
Expectations
The Contemporary Worship Leader will:
· Be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ
· Lead the Praise and Worship team in spiritual disciplines; prayer, scripture reading, devotional and spiritual support, outreach and fellowship.
· Lead the worship team on Sunday mornings during the contemporary worship service.
· Develop and maintain an up-to-date contemporary Christian music library
· Assist the contemporary praise time in learning new music
· Recruit and train volunteer musicians to be a part of the worship team as well as prepare and lead a weekly rehearsal.
· Meet weekly to plan services with the Contemporary Worship pastor.
· Work with Pastors and the Traditional Worship Director in the planning and execution of weekly worship services
· Provide AV/Tech support.
· Build digital worship service presentations for Contemporary (weekly) and other worship services as needed.
· Assist Dir. of Technical Ministry in recruiting & training A/V volunteers
· Schedule A/V Team volunteers for all 3 services & communicate with them weekly
· Report any A/V related discussions from the Staff & Worship weekly meetings to Dir. of Technical Ministry
· Assist with additional worship experiences: Weekly staff chapel and monthly prayer service
· Provide A/V and technical support as needed for weekday & evening events such as Wednesday programming, classes, meetings, luncheons, special programs, weddings, and funerals*, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Pro-Presenter
- Proficient in guitar and/or piano
- Vocal background
- Knowledge of basic music theory is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Planning Center is a plus
- Willingness to learn needed skills
