Contract: Part Time

The University of Arizona Office of Sustainability is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a part-time Graphic Designer. This position will focus on creating graphic design elements to increase the visibility of the Office of Sustainability on campus. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sustainability Communications Coordinator and collaborate with students and staff on joint projects. Responsibilities include designing materials such as rack cards, social media posts, event flyers, posters, and other digital communications. The candidate will also oversee inbound and outbound digital communications and contribute to the development, production, and dissemination of marketing materials to internal and external stakeholders. This is a Part-Time Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position with flexible/hybrid work arrangements within Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Create Multimedia Marketing Materials:
  • Develop original imagery and templates for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) to increase engagement.
  • Edit and optimize photographs using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar software.
  • Design a wide variety of cross-platform materials, including digital and printed assets.
  • Collaborate with staff and students on multimedia projects.
  • Edit, catalog, store, and distribute visual materials and data.
  1. Maintain Internal Communications:
  • Attend weekly Central Communications meetings.
  • Maintain regular email and phone communication with supervisor and team members.
  • Collaborate with Office of Sustainability staff and students on graphic design projects.
  1. Miscellaneous Job Duties:
  • Assist in event photography and photo/video editing.
  • Assist in maintaining and editing the Office of Sustainability website.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills to create and adhere to social media posting calendars, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • General understanding of and/or interest in sustainability, climate change, and social justice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate to advanced graphic design and visual communication experience, including CanvaPro or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Previous experience creating visual content for social media platforms.
  • Previous experience creating print and digital materials for promotional, outreach, or educational purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Data visualization experience (e.g., infographics, graphs, charts, etc.).
