Job Description:
As a Technical Designer, you will play a crucial role in transforming client renders into detailed technical drawings. Your expertise in reverse engineering and translating conceptual designs into practical and accurate plans will be invaluable. You will work closely with our workshop team, including carpenters, metal fabricators, and machinists operating CNC and plasma cutters, to ensure seamless communication and effective project execution. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting site surveys to gather essential information for the project at hand.
As a prospective employee, you will need:
- Proficiency in Vectorworks (required) to create accurate and detailed technical drawings.
- Able to use AutoCAD, Rhino.
- The ability to create drawings from concept to completion stages.
- 3-5 years experience within event and exhibition sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Drafting, Design, or Engineering.
Key Requirements & Skills:
- Reverse Engineer and Technical Drawing Creation: Analyze and interpret client renders, conceptual designs, and architectural drawings to develop precise technical drawings for carpenters, metal fabricators, and machinists.
- Collaborative Communication/ Communication Skills.
- Design Optimization: Apply your expertise in design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes to propose innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Site Surveys.
- Quality Control.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Problem-Solving Abilities.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to project sites for surveys and attend meetings with clients or other stakeholders as required.
Additional Information:
This role will be 5 days a week - ideally a minimum of 3 days in the studio and 2 working from home; hours are between 8am and 5pm with 1 hour break. The client qualifies to be outside of IR35 and we will be offering between £225 and £250 per day. This contract is based on a 1-month period, however, the client has stated that if there is a continued influx of work, it could be longer.
