Job Description

We are looking for a freelance VFX & Motion Graphics Designer to join our large video design team for our upcoming tour of Julius Caesar which we are developing now through Feb 2024. We are looking for someone to create a range of VFX and motion graphic assets, collaborating with the projection designer and wider creative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the creation of all animated motion graphics as delegated by your lead tech designer. Examples of work done so far here: https://www.icarustheatre.co.uk/live
• Update, adapt, and change these designs/plans based on feedback from the sharings
• Attend Design meetings as necessary
• To work with the production and make suggestions/changes as needed
• Be reasonably responsive to phone and email communications about Design-related queries

Timeline

• Development October - December 2023 working on an ad-hoc basis
• Rehearsal day(s) schedule for early January to make amends if necessary

Requirements

• Exceptional video design and VFX ability
• Excellent organisation, and communication skills
• Experience collaborating with set designers and Production teams to create a fluid, mutually agreed design
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team – you will have a lead tech command who will delegate work so you will be comfortable working to deadlines on work set
• Understanding of Adobe After Effects, file formats and codecs

Desirable (but not essential) qualities, skills and experience

• Degree in video design, or other related degree
• Have worked on 10+ projection designs
• Previous experience designing for mid-scale tours
