Position

The Digital and Social Content Manager is a specialised member of the editorial team, reporting into the Senior Digital Editor for multi-craft site Gathered. The role involves line management duties, mentoring and developing more junior members of staff through managerial support and providing top quality editorial feedback to direct reports and fellow members of staff.

Role and Responsibilities

In addition to producing top quality, SEO-friendly editorial craft content, the Digital and Social Content Manager is responsible for maintaining and growing the Gathered brand across our top social media channels, with an especial focus on Pinterest. They are responsible for maintaining our relationship with Pinterest, as part of our regular Partnership Programmes, and ensuring that content is consistently posted to our channels to increase inbound traffic to the Gathered website.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Writing digital, SEO friendly articles across a wide range of topics
  • Write advertorials for paid clients and work with ad sales team
  • Organisation of commerce-led affiliate articles for the team
  • Mentor print teams to help them create content every month for Gathered
  • Monitoring the ‘Sewing and quilting’ section of the website and deploying content updates to ensure it continues to grow YoY, in line with monthly page view targets
  • Working with Head of Social Media in the planning and execution of comprehensive, forward-looking content strategy across platforms
  • Building engagement and a sense of community across social media and newsletter audiences
  • Reporting to the team and management on social media growth and trends on a monthly basis
  • Line management of one individual (support planning schedules and workloads)
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms including Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok essential
  • Write weekly newsletters for Gathered’s Sewing vertical (with the option to write another newsletter on a freelance basis)

Useful, but not essential:

  • Review social media ad copy
  • Scheduling daily social media posts for release across all channels
  • Monitoring the Gathered inbox for requests and queries
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and Canva
