Job Description

DCS’s Infoscitex Sector is seeking a part-time, experienced Software Engineer to support the development of new sensor data processing/management technologies. The engineer will be working on projects that directly support Department of Defense efforts worldwide.

Responsibilities include:

  • Capturing requirements
  • Designing, developing, extending, demonstrating, and delivering software products
  • Producing demonstrable proof of concept based on low fidelity mock-ups
  • Researching and implementing concepts from academia
  • Applying software engineering, development, and testing best practices
  • Using systems engineering and agile development processes
  • Collaborating with mixed contractor and government teams
  • Providing documentation, integration, and training support to users

Requirements

  • BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent engineering field, and 8-10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Experience with C++, Java, and Python in either Windows or Linux environments
  • Experience with cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and edge computing using IaaS deployment/standardization tools
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, HDFS) and databases (Accumulo or Cassandra)
  • Experience using version control software (Git) and software development tools (Jira, Gitlab, Github, BitBucket, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
  • Ability to work well in team environments including distributed teams

Additional Information

This is a part-time position. The engineer will be joining a growing team of engineers, scientists, and subject matter experts dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Airmen. The role also involves leveraging zero-trust, data governance, and data standards initiatives in the development of new technologies.
