JOB DESCRIPTION
The UAW’s Purchasing Dept is looking for a creative layout designer to join our Printshop team. The designer will be expected to handle daily requests that could be as small as laying out a business card or realigning a leaflet to full design of banners, publications, magazines, booklets, agenda’s signs, etc. for large and or small conferences and events. Excellent visual and composition design skills are a requirement. In addition, applicant must have proficient experience as a layout or graphic designer. Must have intermediate to advanced skills utilizing all Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in addition to Adobe Photoshop, In Design, and Illustrator.
KEY DUTIES
- Create and design leaflets, training booklets, business cards, banners, signs, workbooks for electronic and print distribution
- Able to ensure that page text and images are balanced for both printed and electronic material
- Assist in managing day to day requests and needs of the Printshop as it relates to design and layout work
- Create visually appealing content for both electronic and print distribution
- Able to take direction and feedback
- Color matching PMS or CMYK
- Daily proofing of work before and or after project printed
- Must be comfortable working on multiple projects at a time and have a strong attention to detail
- Flexible and comfortable working in an environment where things may change frequently
- Respond to emails in a timely manner and meet deadlines
JOB REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- Attention to detail is a must
- Organized
- Knowledge of file extensions that should be used in digital and print world
- Willingness to learn and contribute and collaborate on ideas
- Graphic Art design coursework or college experience
- Creative with a secondary nature to develop fresh designs.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize assignments and projects
- Extensive Graphic Design skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Able to work independently without much direction
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are needed
- Ability to adapt to change
- Manage multiple projects and assignments
- Able to set and meet deadlines
- Excellent proof-reading skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Customer service oriented
- Intermediate to advanced skills utilizing all Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in addition to Adobe Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
Temporary employees receive the health care benefits of a first-year entry level employee after three (3) months of continuous employment. After six (6) months of continuous employment, Temporary employees will be entitled to receive all benefits of a first year entry level employee with the exception of lay off benefits.
JOB DETAILS
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $22.26 per hour
Expected hours: 8 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
