Job Description:

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a social media strategy to promote Durham University to prospective applicants, partners, collaborators, alumni, employers, policymakers, and influencers. They will work closely with the Web and Digital Senior Manager and Head of Marketing to increase brand awareness, enhance reputation, and engage with social media audiences. The role will involve planning, managing, monitoring, reporting on, analyzing, and optimizing corporate social media channels. The Social Media Manager will also be responsible for content creation, community development, and engagement with social media accounts beyond the marketing team’s remit. The role will sit within the Marketing and Communications Office.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Professional experience in social media management and marketing
  • Experience in implementing policies and procedures and supporting change and service improvements
  • Experience in providing specialist advice and guidance to various stakeholders
  • Experience in participating in internal or external networks to share good practice and influence reputation
  • Experience in managing and developing teams
  • Experience in developing and delivering a social media strategy
  • Experience in social media monitoring and audience research
  • Experience in interpreting and analyzing social media engagement data
  • Experience in managing paid social media advertising
  • Experience in content creation and management for professional social media channels
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of common social media platforms
  • Knowledge of social media management software
  • Digital competence and familiarity with digital tools and systems
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Knowledge and experience of compliance
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use quantitative and qualitative research for decision making

Additional Information:

This is a fixed-term full-time position with a contract duration of 52 weeks. The role requires 35 hours per week. The closing date for applications is 22-Feb-2024. The position does not require a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The successful candidate will receive a salary within the Grade 7 range of £37,099 - £44,263 per annum.
