Job Description:

KCBS2/KCAL9 in Los Angeles is looking for a per diem/freelance digital content producer to join their digital team. The role involves producing content for various platforms including the website, social media channels, and streams. Responsibilities include writing, copyediting, and producing news, managing content distribution on social media, and supporting multiplatform streaming objectives.

Key qualities include strong editorial judgment, a background in breaking news, good communication skills, ability to identify unique local content, understanding of journalism ethics, news writing experience, social media platform expertise, metrics analysis capability, and creative troubleshooting skills when technical issues arise.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of news writing experience
• Experience with breaking news and passion for owning news on digital platforms
• Proficiency in writing teases, stories, and headlines for broadcast and AP style
• Content management systems experience
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Proven track record in creating content for social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and TikTok
• Video and photo editing skills
• College degree in journalism or relevant field
• Understanding of SEO strategies

Education Requirements:

• College Degree Required or Equivalent Experience
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Strong attention to detail in news production
