Job Description
As a Senior Software Engineer for DOD-Aerospace, the role involves developing, maintaining, upgrading, and porting embedded product software. The position requires mentoring less experienced software engineers, collaborating with other engineering disciplines, and ensuring that technical approaches align with established engineering principles. Additionally, the engineer will work to ensure that product outcomes meet customer needs and comply with technical, system, performance, and quality requirements.
Requirements
- Proficiency in C++ programming.
- Experience with Linux/Unix and VxWorks operating systems.
- Familiarity with Git and JIRA for configuration management.
- Strong background in object-oriented design and development.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in relevant engineering disciplines.
- Ability to solve basic technical design and development problems.
- Capability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships for resolving technical issues.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in real-time embedded software development and/or software testing.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in Ada programming.
- Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
- Strong background in object-oriented design and development.
- Experience with UML modeling and proficiency with UML modeling tools.
- Knowledge of Bradley functionality and capability.
- Familiarity with DOORS.
- Understanding of CMMI for development.
- Proficiency in embedded systems.
- Experience in architectural level software design using tools like Magic Draw or Enterprise Architect.
- Experience using NI TestStand for software testers.
- Familiarity with combat vehicle functionality and capability.
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
Additional Information
This is a 5-month contract position in Sterling Heights, MI, with the possibility of temp-to-perm conversion. The hourly rate is up to $59/hr (W2, non-benefited). Only US citizens are eligible to apply. .
