Job Description

The Cards program is an initiative to re-invent the hosting model of Amazon’s public-facing retail website. Utilizing containers in a native AWS environment, the program aims to create a micro-CX based hosting model for internal customers while managing the hosting, availability, and security of features. The selected candidate will drive investment in future developments by integrating new AWS tooling and technologies, simplifying the Kubernetes/Istio/Envoy based architecture, and optimizing performance to meet Amazon’s Tier-1 guidelines.

This is a learning role at a large scale where you will be deeply involved in system optimizations, architectural improvements, and mentoring team members. Remote work is offered for this role.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience contributing to system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• 1+ years experience using Typescript.
• Experience in building systems using AWS technologies.
• Understanding of Docker containers and orchestration platforms such as ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or Mesos.

Job Responsibilities

• Own the vision and execution of the next evolution of the Cards hosting platform.
• Write code to implement solutions and mentor team members during implementation.
• Work with cross-functional teams across Amazon to achieve optimal solutions.
• Optimize system performance and improve availability in line with Amazon’s Tier-1 guidelines.
• Find architectural improvements to streamline daily operations for team members.
