Job Description

The Mississippi Department of Education aims to enhance student outcomes through a World-Class Data System. As part of this initiative, the department seeks qualified Developers to lead various tasks, including:

• Rationalizing and mapping data between transactional and dimensional database models/systems.
• Development and maintenance of data dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools.
• Collaborating with database and system administrators to optimize performance of the data warehouse system.
• Working with vendors and agency staff to manage the MDE data portal for internal and public data publishing.
• Translating application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
• Working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Handling tasks under severe time constraints.
• Employing analytical and complex problem-solving skills.

Requirements

Required Skills/Experience

• Extensive experience with development of front-end reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Oracle tools such as Reports and Forms.
• Experience in web site programming (HTML, XML) and JavaScript.
• Thorough understanding of data warehouse design hierarchies, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Use of ALM tools for work item management, version control, code analysis, and testing.
• Strong knowledge of Java, C++, and PL/SQL.
• Familiarity with continuous integration.
• Understanding of Common Language Runtime (CLR), its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Experience with student information management systems and K-12 data and reporting is a plus.
