Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic Content Designers to join our community in DWP Digital. Our multidisciplinary digital teams use fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly everyone in the UK at key moments in their lives. You’ll be working on our Gov.uk team, where we create and manage the guidance and tools that millions of people trust and use every day. You will be part of our user-centred and passionate Gov.uk team. This role involves making content easy to understand by design and structure, whether that’s digital application forms, emails, or letters. By putting users’ needs at the heart of your work, you will help simplify customers’ interactions with the government, using evidence to iterate your content. The ability to frame and explain your decisions to a wide range of stakeholders is crucial in this role.

Requirements

Your application will consist of three parts:

• Substantial experience of creating accessible and plain English content, following content processes, and applying patterns and style guidelines
• Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to make content decisions
• Able to showcase different ways of showing, explaining, and testing your content
• Experience engaging in a community of practice, including reviewing other people’s content and getting your own content reviewed
• Collaboration with individuals from other disciplines
• Advocacy for user-centred, evidence-based content with stakeholders
• Ability to explain how the work you do helps your organisation achieve the right outcomes

Additionally, a content design exercise will be required as part of the application.

Details

Location: You will join us in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We operate a hybrid model, allowing you to work part-time from home and part-time in a hub.

Pay: Competitive pay of up to £45,081.

Pension: A civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%.

Holidays: Starting at 26 days, rising to 31 days over time, plus up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time and all usual public holidays.
