Job Description

As a Back-end Java Developer, you will contribute to the development of smart, data-driven mobility solutions aimed at creating safer roads, better traffic flow, and more sustainable transportation. Your role involves working on a powerful data platform that processes historical and current traffic information to provide insights for governments and policymakers.

In the Data Fusion team, you will work on a robust data platform that merges data from various sources for reporting, dashboards, and policy analysis. Your work enables accurate reconstruction of traffic situations, such as congestion due to accidents, based on historical data.

Requirements

• HBO or WO work and thinking level, preferably in Computer Science or Informatics
• Extensive experience with software development in an Azure Cloud environment
• Proven knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Experience with scalable applications, geodata, (big) databases, and database management in SQL (preferably PostGIS)
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD)
• Fluent in Dutch

Responsibilities

• Analyze the needs of users and stakeholders
• Design scalable, maintainable solutions in Java (Spring Boot)
• Collaborate within a DevOps team for application management and renewal
• Contribute to dashboards and visualizations aimed at policymakers and traffic professionals
• Provide input on future data streams, innovations, and technological choices

Additional Information

You will work in a multidisciplinary scrum team following the SAFe methodology, with ample opportunity for innovation. Each quarter includes an innovation sprint where new techniques are explored. Your contributions help improve traffic safety, accessibility, and air quality in the Netherlands.

Expect hybrid working arrangements: 1 to 2 days in the office (Utrecht region) and the remaining days remote, alongside flexible collaboration in an open and results-driven team.
