Job Description

This is a paid freelance and remote position. ScreenRant is the #1 entertainment website and publishes up-to-the-minute news on blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, music, and other forms of entertainment. As a worldwide leader, ScreenRant operates at a rapid pace and is always looking for experienced and passionate contributors who can create original high-quality content in a timely manner.

Your Responsibilities:

• Source and curate breaking music news — new releases, industry announcements, chart updates, artist signings, and trending stories
• Craft compelling news titles and angles tailored to the music audience
• Differentiate flash news vs. evergreen features; decide what to spike immediately and what to hold for deeper coverage
• Add music news briefs and source links to Asana for writers to claim and track
• Assign music-focused news articles and coordinate with writers on deadlines
• Edit music news drafts for accuracy, style, and timeliness
• Provide constructive feedback and support writer development in the music vertical
• Pitch and write music news articles when rapid turnaround is required (e.g., major album drops, surprise releases)
• Prepare soft/niche music news content for weekends and off-peak periods
• Attend weekly editorial meetings focused on music coverage

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Music Business, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience producing music news or editorial content for a credible digital publication
• Deep familiarity with the music industry—labels, streaming platforms, charts, and artist landscape
• Strong SEO savvy and experience optimizing headlines and metadata for music content
• Exceptional news judgment and sense of urgency in a 24/7 news cycle
• Excellent English writing skills, free of grammatical and spelling errors
• Ability to multitask and manage several music stories at once under tight deadlines
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
