Job Description

Podcast Host Wanted – Discover Rhode Island Series

Part-Time | 20–30 Hours/Month | On-Location | Rhode Island

Do you love meeting people, telling stories, and exploring the local gems that make Rhode Island special? Discover Rhode Island is looking for an outgoing, curious, and confident Podcast Host to be the voice of our traveling mobile studio as we visit all 39 cities and towns across the Ocean State.

This is not a buttoned-up broadcast — it’s casual, high-energy, and full of personality. We’re talking real conversations with small business owners, artists, chefs, entrepreneurs, and local legends. No script. No pressure. Just great dialogue, community storytelling, and fun.

Requirements

What You’ll Do:

  • Host podcast interviews in our mobile Airstream studio (we bring the gear — you bring the questions!)
  • Travel to different locations across Rhode Island (always daytime shoots, no weekends, flexible scheduling).
  • Research basic background info on each guest and town (we’ll help prep you).
  • Collaborate with our production person to deliver strong on-air segments that feel authentic and engaging.
  • Be the personality of the show — warm, relatable, upbeat, and a great listener.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Comfortable on mic and on camera.
  • Good conversationalist — able to guide a chat, pivot when needed, and make guests feel at ease.
  • Curious and community-minded.
  • Rhode Island knowledge is a bonus, but not required.

Additional Information

Note, we were required to put a location, so we put Warren RI because that’s where our next podcast will be held. After that it will be likely Barrington, then East Providence, but we’ll be moving around the state and in a different place each month.

Also, this form required a weekly hours range but we work primarily on a monthly calendar and it would be between 20 and 30 hours per month but could develop into more as the podcast becomes more popular.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
