Job Description
KCBS/KCAL is looking for a creative and dedicated Camera Technician with great multitasking and storytelling abilities. The primary duty will involve working with News Reporters and Producers to shoot quality, compelling, and creative visual content. This video photographer will need to travel light and work quickly while capturing fleeting moments. The ideal candidate must be proficient in shooting, lighting, and editing to bring stories to life. Excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for storytelling are essential, along with the ability to respond to breaking news situations and contribute to original reporting under pressure.
General Responsibilities
- Direct lighting, set overall visual look, and manage technical specifications for projects.
- Ensure high-quality recording of pictures and sounds.
- Provide support logistics and shot requirements while working closely with Talent and Producers.
- Operate ENG vehicles and maintain all gear including crew vehicles.
- Effectively troubleshoot in various circumstances.
- Work under deadline pressure.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an ENG photographer in a large market.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen and give constructive criticism.
- In-depth knowledge of existing and evolving newsgathering technologies.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative with a high level of creativity.
- Experience in logistics, special event planning, and execution.
Requirements
- Valid US driver’s license with unrestricted driving ability; valid US passport required for domestic and international travel.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs. of newsgathering equipment.
- Availability to work weekends, long hours, or varying shifts as needed.
- Travel for production may involve hostile environments; training will be provided.
- Proficient with streaming technologies such as Dejero and LiveU.
- Willing to travel for assignments lasting days or weeks, including abroad; examples of recent work required.
Additional Information
The hiring salary range for this position is $66.3113/hour, applicable to specific geographical locations. Starting pay will depend on various job-related factors. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, and PTO as dictated by the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
