Gentle Kalimba Tribute Piece with Subtle Heartbreak
I am seeking an original instrumental tribute piece for a video game I am developing, dedicated to Polly, a rescue hen who has had a significant impact on my life. This piece should feature the kalimba as the primary instrument, supported by gentle atmospheric textures like strings, pads, or chimes. The composition should have a lullaby-like, tender and intimate mood, but with an underlying sense of heartbreak that remains subtle and does not overwhelm the overall loving and bittersweet feel. The inspiration draws from tracks such as ‘His Theme’ from Undertale, ‘Your Reality’ from Doki Doki Literature Club, pieces from the Final Fantasy series, and ‘11PM’ from Animal Crossing. As a first-time solo game developer with experience in 2D animation and animal rescue, this is a passion project at an early stage, funded personally. I value clear emotional storytelling through music and am looking for a collaborator who can help bring this vision to life. I hope to develop a working demo within a year, and there could be more opportunities in the future as the project progresses.
Budget range:
Up to £100
Examples:
Emotional simplicity and clarity (like His Theme from Undertale), but with a kalimba-led, lullaby quality. Other inspirations include “Your Reality” from Doki Doki Literature Club, “You Will Be Okay” (Lyrics) from Helluva Boss, “Aerith’s Theme” and “Breezy” from the Final Fantasy Series, and “11PM” from the Animal Crossing Series.
