MAGGIE & JONNIE

We are seeking an experienced screenwriter to write a script based on a real-life tragic love affair set during the hippie era. The story follows Jonnie, a polymath, and Maggie, his brilliant partner, as they flee the Vietnam War draft and oppression in the United States, escaping into the Canadian wilderness in the late 1960s. Their journey introduces themes such as anti-war, feminism, pro-Nature, sexual freedom, and anti-government ideals, while they strive to create an idyllic life away from society. The script explores the hardships they face, including opposition from locals, personal loss, and societal condemnation, culminating in Maggie’s tragic death and Jonnie’s quest for closure. Project files provided include a sample of initial pages to define stylistic direction.
