Job Description

ArborEXPO™ is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Web Designer to lead the full redesign of our website (www.arborexpo.org). This is an exciting opportunity to shape the online presence of one of the tree care industry’s premier events. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio of successful, user-focused designs and experience creating clean, engaging, and intuitive websites—especially for events, expos, or conferences. Beyond technical expertise, this role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as you will work closely with ArborEXPO™ and ArborTIMES™ staff to bring the new site to life.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the ArborEXPO™ team to understand project goals, target audience, and brand vision.
• Develop a compelling design strategy and site plan that aligns with event objectives.
• Design intuitive, functional, and visually appealing web pages that enhance the user experience.
• Present design concepts, wireframes, and mockups to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
• Establish and maintain consistent design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
• Implement designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or collaborate with developers as needed).
• Monitor site performance, optimize usability, and adjust as necessary.
• Deliver all project phases on time and within budget.

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven experience as a web designer or in a related role.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in web design, computer science, or related field (preferred).
• Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and effective web design projects.
• Experience with user flows, wireframing, and site mapping.
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or similar).
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Excellent visual design skills with an eye for user-system interaction.
• Ability to solve problems creatively and translate complex needs into simple solutions.
• Knowledge of current web design trends, techniques, and technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Information

This is a contract role focused specifically on the redesign of the ArborEXPO™ website. The project will involve discovery, design, implementation, and testing phases, with the goal of launching the new site in advance of the upcoming ArborEXPO™ event. Candidates should be able to commit to project deadlines, maintain consistent communication, and deliver a polished, functional website within the agreed timeline and budget. Expected timeline to complete this project should not exceed more than 25 hours unless approved by managing staff.
