Job Description

This is a remote position. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM AEST, totaling 20 hours per week. We’re looking for a skilled Website Developer with strong experience in WordPress, optimisation, and web performance. The ideal candidate will have a balance of technical expertise and creative problem-solving, ensuring smooth, secure, and engaging websites that align with business goals. Experience supporting small businesses and working collaboratively with marketing/content teams is highly valued.

Requirements

• Technical Skills:
• Proven WordPress development experience (5+ years).
• Hands-on experience with MotoPress Hotel Booking plugin.
• Proficient with Google Analytics for tracking and reporting.
• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and optimisation practices.
• Security & Maintenance:
• Experience implementing SSL, firewalls, and malware scans.
• Strong understanding of WordPress security best practices.
• Ability to manage regular backups and recovery processes.
• Design & UX:
• Eye for clean, responsive design and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate brand guidelines into functional design.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving ability and proactive communication.
• Collaborative mindset, able to work with marketing and non-technical staff.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Preferred Experience:
• Previous work with small businesses or startups.
• Experience in advising or training non-technical team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Website Performance & Optimisation:
• Monitor site speed, uptime, and responsiveness.
• Optimise images, scripts, and code for faster load times.
• Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility.
• Maintenance & Security:
• Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
• Implement security measures (SSL, firewalls, malware scans).
• Manage backups and support disaster recovery planning.
• Functionality & Design:
• Build, customise, or redesign web pages, landing pages, or entire websites.
• Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, errors, or coding issues.
• Develop and implement custom themes or functionality as needed.
• Maintain consistent branding, design standards, and usability best practices.
• SEO & Analytics:
• Apply on-page SEO best practices to improve visibility.
• Track performance using Google Analytics and other monitoring tools.
• Generate reports on traffic, conversions, and user behaviour.
• Recommend strategies to improve performance and engagement.
• E-commerce & Plugins:
• Configure and manage plugins, especially booking/reservation tools such as MotoPress Hotel Booking.
• Ensure integrations with third-party tools are stable and functional.
• Collaboration & Strategy:
• Work closely with marketing/content teams to implement campaigns.
• Advise on UX/UI improvements informed by analytics insights.
• Recommend changes based on A/B testing and user feedback.
